Gray is located in Cumberland County

Population: 7,000 Gray is a town of about 7,000 permanent residents encompassing 42 square miles, located approximately 15 miles north of Portland. The town is at the crossroad of State routes 26, 100, 115 and 202, and the Maine Turnpike exit 11.

Gray is within easy reach of pristine lakes, internationally recognized ski mountains and beautiful Casco Bay.

Gray is part of Maine School Administrative District #15. The other town in the district is the neighboring community of New Gloucester. Together there are five schools. The elementary schools are the Russell School, the Memorial School, and the Dunn School. There are also the Gray-New Gloucester Middle School and the Gray-New Gloucester High School.

Gray also has an active homeschooling community. The New Gloucester-Gray Homeschool Group welcomes all people who are interested in homeschooling and want support as well as the opportunity to do interesting things with the group. During the regular school year there is also an active Adult Education program.

Youth Sports Programs include: soccer, indoor soccer, basketball (in-house and travel teams), Summer Recreation Day Camp, and a wide variety of sport camps and clinics.

Wilkies Beach provides the residents of Gray a welcome break from the summer heat. The town runs and operates Wilkies Beach on Crystal Lake from Memorial Day to Labor Day.
