Welcome to Aurora, the City of Lights. Aurora is located along the high-tech corridor, I-88 in the winding valleys of the beautiful Fox River just 37 miles west of Chicago, Illinois.
Aurora was founded in 1837 by Joseph and Samuel McCarty, who named it after a city in their native state, New York. Located in the fertile Fox Valley the town grew quickly with settlers from the east. Aurora had everything the settlers could dream of - fresh water, game for hunting, lumber for building and a burgeoning population to trade with. Aurora's population has grown to over 140,000, with a total of almost 350,000 people living in a 10 mile radius of greater Aurora. The city now boasts retail sales around a billion dollars annually and growing.
There is plenty of things to do in Aurora; you don't have to worry about being bored! The city boasts Blackberry Farm's, which consists of a real pioneer farm and also provides a water park (Splash Country), along with a professional theatre, the David L. Pierce Art and History Center and the Hollywood Casino-Aurora. For nature lovers, there is a wide array of parks and trails, along with lakes and rivers for you to enjoy. The Brookfield Zoo is a short car ride from Aurora as well.
